This event in the beautiful setting of Latimer Lake was sponsored by West Hertfordshire Lodge. An early start was made to set up the kitchen so that Anglers and Helpers could have the traditional mug of tea and a “Bacon Butty” before welcoming some 20 disabled or disadvantaged children.
The children who come from specialist schools were met by anglers and given safety glasses and hats before commencing fishing.
As the morning progressed excited children were catching and landing fish. There were happy smiles on faces and even the threatened rain held off.
Lunchtime arrives and the MTSFC helpers made sure burgers, vegeburgers, sausages, fruit, crisps and drinks were available. Appetites satisfied, there was time for a little more fishing before the presentations. Our Worshipful Master presented the certificates assisted by W. Bro. Ken Gamblin who presented the medals. Every child had at least one fish, a big smile and great memories.
