What a wonderful day on Darlow Water ....

 

. . when The Provincial Grand Lodge of Oxfordshire sponsored its third MFC Event on the 9th May. The day was made more memorable as we were honoured by the presence of our Patron the Marquess of Northampton, The Provincial Grand Master of Oxfordshire and the President of the MFC Charity.

The Organisers were very grateful to the Farmoor Fly Fishing Club and its members as they donated all the resources even down to the food so well prepared and served. They even provided the vast majority of the fishermen from their membership.

There were 23 excited and enthusiastic participants including one who was wheelchair bound. The weather was very kind to us and the rain only drove us to shelter for the award of certificates and medals, and of course the picture taking.

Over thirty fish were caught, the exact number could not be recorded as catch and release is allowed but over half the participants took home their trophy. As is usual many were anxious to catch but not to touch. The joy on the faces of all the participants was ample remuneration for those who worked so hard in planning, preparing and executing this Event, the best yet.

Our next Event will be on 10th October 2007 at Bushyleaze and we are already negotiating for an Event back at Darlow next May.
