. .of the North Wales Branch of the MTSFC’s second event of the year, held as always at Tan-y-Mynydd Trout Fishery.
It was the best turn-out to date, with Masons from the far reaches of the Province arriving to support the Charity and putting great demands on the bacon butties and mugs of tea or coffee. As the sky started to brighten and the first rays of sun broke through, buses from the various three schools arrived to a typical Tan-y-Mynydd welcome.
Registration over, it was off around the pools for the delighted children, accompanied by their Caster and Helper for the day. By mid morning several fish had been hooked, many lost and with one or two finding their way into the waiting nets - to be unceremoniously scooped out by the waiting children.
The lunchtime break for refreshments was extremely orderly, with the children on their best behaviour and
happily gorging on burgers, hot dogs, apples, crisps and various sandwiches. The “Dining Tent“ was a-buzz with excited chatter as the children all tried to better the story of that huge fish that got away! By now the sun was really hot, bright and overhead, making the afternoon’s fishing a lot harder than the morning session.
There were still a few fish caught though and the day ended with a respectable tally of nineteen fish. After the Certificate Ceremony to the delighted recipients, the children re-embarked onto their buses and with huge smiles and even bigger waves, headed off back to their schools.
